President Barack Obama

(via barackobama)
We all try to test the waters
It starts out innocent, in the shallow end
Who could guess what would happen then
Up to your knees, but what lies deeper
As the ocean floor grows steeper and steeper
Deeper still the tide reals you in
At eye level with the darkest of sins
It’s too cloudy to see what’s below
Dare to see how far you can go
Look past the surface, one small peak
One little breath to see what’s beneath
It grabs hold and drags you under
Grasping for air and your mind is a blunder
It creates a new pulse as it keeps gripping tighter
Won’t give up now, too much of a fighter
The surface holds your last breath for the day
And surely your next if you could just find the way
Can’t tell where’s up, down or beside
No use in screaming, but might as well try
White hot anxiety as it takes full control
It’s played this before but what is your role
It plays the game well, asks “Won’t you surrender?”
In a voice that is calming, charming, and tender
Suddenly sinking but don’t seem to notice
Now it’s the deep end that seems to be closest
You couldn’t care less, enveloped in blue
Testing the waters is the last thing you’ll do
